ELYRIA – Police Capt. Chris Costantino said Cedric Walton, 24, of Elyria, turned himself in to police at about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday after learning about warrants for his arrest.
Walton faces charges of improperly discharging a firearm at or into a home, discharge of a firearm on or near prohibited premises, having weapons under a disability and discharging firearms. He is currently being held in the Lorain County Jail.
In 2017, Walton was convicted of possession of drug paraphernalia, marijuana paraphernalia and cocaine, according to the Lorain County Court docket. Walton also was convicted of aggravated burglary and felonious assault in 2012.
Bullets struck homes on the 500 block of Foster at about 2 p.m. Avenue Aug. 23. People on the street reported hearing gunshots in the area. Costantino said one of the bullets went into a home and hit a wall opposite a children’s toy chest and playroom. No injuries were reported.
This is the same address where a car window was shattered by gunfire and a bullet was fired into the home in the early morning hours of July 30. Costantino said they couldn’t link Walton to that incident at this time.
Costantino commended his detectives for identifying Walton as quick as they did.
“Detectives did a good job, they were able to identify him quickly,” he said.
