Body found in Lorain; autopsy scheduled for today

LORAIN — Deloris White, a 70-year-old resident of Reid Avenue, called 911 when she found the body of a man lying near her backyard Monday morning.

As White went to her car to leave for a doctor’s appointment, she saw the man and waited in her car until authorities arrived. The man, she said, was wearing jeans and a light-colored shirt and was alongside a discarded bicycle. Emergency crews transported the man’s body.

The man was in an alleyway from West 27th to West 28th streets, White said. It was near an abandoned house that White said has generated complaints for unsavory activity taking place in it.

The Lorain County Coroner’s Office has an autopsy scheduled for today. County Coroner Dr. Stephen Evans said the cause of death is unknown, but it shows no obvious outside injuries or a violent death.

The man was identified and his family was notified, but officials had not released his name as of Monday.
