ELYRIA – A man was fatally struck by a train Sunday afternoon, according to Elyria Fire Assistant Chief Carl Mack.
Elyria fire responded to the call with Elyria police and LifeCare about 3:15 p.m. to find a man dead on arrival from an eastbound train on the tracks near the intersection of Huron and Lowell Street.
The man’s identity hasn’t been released yet, but Elyria police Capt. Chris Costantino described him as a 39-year-old Parma man.
Train conductors said the man was walking on the tracks toward the train before he was struck.
“All information we have leads to this being a suicide,” he said.
