ELYRIA — Elyria police are looking for two men believed to be involved in a shooting Wednesday night in the parking lot of Bailey’s Bar and Grille, 800 West River Road N.
Elyria police Capt. Chris Costantino said police were called to Bailey’s at 11:46 p.m. Wednesday to find a man with multiple gunshot wounds in the parking lot near a trash receptacle.
The man, identified as Antwan Dormendo, 25, of Cleveland, was taken to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center, and then flown by LifeFlight to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. Costantino said his injures were described as serious but not life-threatening.
He noted that Dormendo has Elyria ties and was released from prison for an unknown charge two days earlier.
In July 2017, Dormendo was charged with aggravated robbery in Lorain County Common Pleas Court. He also had six contempt of court charges filed against him as the case moved through the system.
He also had been charged with disrupting public service, aggravated menacing, possession of marijuana, obstructing official business and domestic violence in 2011.
Police believe two men, armed with handguns, walked to the parking lot from Foster Avenue and started shooting at Dormendo. They then ran toward Furnace Street.
“We’ve got a team looking for them,” Costantino said. “This is an ongoing and active investigation.”
