LORAIN — A student was arrested last week for allegedly bringing a loaded gun to Lorain High School.
According to a Lorain police report, Codsh’e Berger, 18, was charged with carrying a concealed weapon and illegal conveyance of a deadly weapon following the incident Thursday.
Berger told officers he brought the handgun, with three bullets loaded into the magazine, to school for self-protection because of recent shootings on the west and south sides of the city, but did not fear for his life in school.
The report said Berger told officers about students in the building who were believed to be gang members. Officers searched two of those students and located knives on both of them, but Berger was “cooperative and respectful” to the school staff and officers throughout the investigation.
The report did not state whether or not Lorain High School was placed on lockdown during the investigation.
Berger is being held at Lorain County Jail on a $50,000 bond.
