UPDATE: The boy who said someone tried to lure him into a vehicle this morning admitted he made up the story.

Elyria police Capt. Chris Costantino said the child missed the bus and didn’t want to get in trouble, so he said someone tried to get him into a sport utility vehicle.

Original story:

Elyria police are currently investigating an incident where a driver tried to lure a boy into his car this morning.

Police received a report that a black, possibly late-model sports utility vehicle stopped by a boy walking on the sidewalk on Dewey Avenue between Lake Avenue and Madison Street, and tried to lure him into the car. There was no attempt at abduction, police say, and the boy ran away and saw the SUV circling the block looking for him.

Police are on the scene at this time.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
