An Avon Lake woman reported her wallet was stolen from her purse while visiting a Crocker Park bar, and more than $5,000 in purchases were made in Cuyahoga and Lorain counties.

The woman reported her wallet was stolen from her purse, which was hanging on the back of her chair at Bar Louie on Dec. 8. A statement from Westlake police recommends the use of a purse hanger to reduce the likelihood of wallets being stolen from purses.

That day, a total of $5,095 in charges were made on the woman’s two credit cards in six stores in North Olmsted and Elyria, including Target in both cities. Those stores were able to provide photo captures of the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to call Westlake police at 440-871-3311.
