ELYRIA — Police are working with the FBI to identify suspects after a skimming device was discovered on a drive-through ATM at Chemical Bank on Midway Boulevard.
Elyria Police Capt. Chris Costantino said police were called to the bank at 361 Midway Blvd. on Thursday to discuss the situation, but withheld details such as when the skimmer was placed on the ATM or how many customers were affected while the investigation is underway.
Skimming devices, also called skimmers, are devices designed to copy the information of credit and debit cards used at ATMs, gas pumps and other electronic card readers.
Police are asking anyone with concerns to call the bank at (440) 406-5080 or the police at (440) 323-3302.
A representative of the bank declined to answer any questions about the incident.
