North Ridgeville teen in custody after alleged school threat

NORTH RIDGEVILLE— A 13-year-old student from North Ridgeville Schools is in custody at the Lorain County Detention Center with charges pending for a threatening note he allegedly wrote at school.

Police were called to the school after another student turned in the note to administration. It was discovered that the note was given to her by the suspect in the North Ridgeville Academic Center. After questioning, the investigators deemed the threat non-credible.

North Ridgeville police Capt. Marti Garrow said the student did not have the means to carry out the threat.

“We spoke with the parents and they confirmed they do not have any weapons,” he said.

Sam Ameen, communications coordinator for the school, said parents in the district were notified about the incident. He said the school has a no-tolerance policy and disciplinary action will be taken.
