LORAIN — A 22-year-old Lorain man was arrested Tuesday following two hit-skip crashes, including one involving a parked police cruiser.
Additional officers were called to the intersection of Broadway and Black River Lane just before 6 p.m. Tuesday after Officer Eric Runyan’s parked police cruiser was struck.
Thomas Hall, 22, of Caroline Avenue attempted to flee the scene but was caught moments later in front of the city’s Water Department on First Street by another officer who was on patrol nearby, according to police.
According to a police report, officers noticed signs of intoxication when talking to Hall and administered a sobriety test at the scene. A passenger in the car, Terry Cumberledge, 28, of Jaeger Road, Lorain, was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center for minor injuries.
Police said Hall was involved in another crash about 15 minutes before hitting Runyan’s police cruiser. In that incident, Hall was in a head-on crash near the intersection of Oberlin Avenue and West 10th Street, which he fled from as well.
Hall was charged with leaving the scene of an accident, failure to control, driving under the influence and failure to comply.
