Police seek info in robbery

ELYRIA – An armed man robbed the Sherwin-Williams store Thursday night and police are looking for information on the suspect.

Police Capt. Chris Costantino said a man walked into the store located at 604 Tillotson St. just after 8 p.m. Thursday.

Two clerks were in the store at the time. Both were in the back warehouse portion of the store. When a male clerk heard the door chime, he went out to greet the supposed customer.

In walked a man who police said demanded money. He lifted his jacket and showed the clerk a handgun tucked into the front of his pants. The store clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of money and the man ran out of the store, through the parking lot and toward the Bob Evans restaurant on Griswold Road.

Police describe the suspect as a black male, around 5-feet, 9-inches with a skinny build and light to medium brown complexion. He was wearing a dark-colored scarf covering his face and blue hooded vest type jacket with the hood up.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (440) 323-3302.
