ELYRIA — A 24-year-old man is recovering at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland after he was shot in the leg Monday night.
Quanteese Smith, of Cleveland, told officers that he had left a barber shop on East Avenue and drove to Fuller Road to meet a friend about 6:30 p.m. Monday. When he got out of his car, Smith told police, two men came around the corner and robbed him and one shot him in the upper thigh.
Capt. Chris Costantino said Smith couldn’t provide any additional information about the suspects, but officers are continuing to investigate.
In an unrelated incident, police arrested two men late Monday after hearing gunshots in the area of Lake Avenue and Lorain Boulevard.
Timothy Green, 22, of Lorain, is charged with carrying concealed weapons, discharging a firearm near prohibited premises, using a firearm while intoxicated and improper handling of a firearm. Police said he was with Raymond Clark Jr., 18, when Green decided to fire off a couple rounds into the ground just before midnight. Officers arrived moments later and pulled over a truck they saw leaving the area.
Costantino said both the men admitted to drinking earlier in the night, and police found a handgun on the passenger side of the car. Green gave no reason for firing the gun into the ground, Costantino said.
Clark is charged with prohibitions under 21 and possession of marijuana.
