EATON TWP. — Ohio State troopers are investigating an incident in which a cyclist was run over by a car.

The car's driver, later identified as Lisa Harris, 29, of Cleveland, was traveling north on Melody Lane at West Road when she ran over a cyclist traveling in the same direction at about 2:46 p.m., according to a news release.

EMS officials flew the victim, a 21-year-old male, to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland after a helicopter landed near the nearby IGA store. The car was a 2002 Ford Taurus and the bicycle was a blue 18-speed Ultra Terrain bike, troopers said.

Drugs also appear to have played a part in the incident, according to the news release.

Witnesses said they heard Harris shout to troopers that the victim “robbed” her. The same witnesses described the victim as a nice but “slow” man who was very friendly. They also said they couldn’t believe he could rob a person.

The victim was listed in critical condition at 7:45 p.m. Wednesday.
