Elyria police arrest pair in string of robberies

ELYRIA – Police have arrested two people in connection with a string of robberies in northern Ohio.

Daniel Begin, 32, and Casey Liberty, 30, were arrested by Elyria police detectives for two counts of aggravated robbery, according to a release from police Capt. Chris Costantino.

The arrests were related to two armed robberies which occurred in Elyria. The first was on Oct. 7 at Game Stop, 249 Midway Boulevard, and the second on Oct. 16 at Subway, 1535 West River Road N.

Begin and Liberty also have been identified as being involved in armed robberies in Avon, North Olmsted, Berea, Perkins Township and Madison, according to police. Both are being held in Lorain County Jail without bond until their appearances in Elyria Municipal Court on Oct. 24.

Detectives from multiple agencies including Elyria, North Ridgeville, Avon, Berea, North Olmsted, Perkins Township and Madison are credited for sharing intelligence and working together to end this multijurisdictional crime spree, according to Costantino.
