LORAIN — A Lorain man riding a bicycle was injured Tuesday when he was hit by a box truck.
Police said Scott Worthy, 41, of Long Avenue, was riding westbound in the eastbound lane of East 28th Street when he veered from the curb into oncoming traffic and collided with a box truck driven by Andre Spidell, 35, of Cleveland.
Police said that when Spidell saw Worthy veer into his lane, he tried to veer left of center to avoid him.
Worthy was taken to Mercy Regional Medical Center and then flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland in serious condition, police said.
Worthy wasn’t wearing a helmet, police said, and he is believed to have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Police said the incident remains under investigation and will be presented to the city prosecutor when concluded for criminal charges.
