BRUNSWICK — Police are investigating an apparent murder-suicide in a condominium on Bennington Boulevard.

Police responded Sunday night to a report of “shots fired,” coming in at 6:57 p.m. Police later issued a one-paragraph statement stating that officers surrounded a condominium unit and a male suspected was reported to have barricaded himself inside. The statement also asked nearby residents to stay in their homes.

Police entered the condo and found two men dead from gunshot wounds, one 42-year-old and one identified as Steven Bonsell, 41. Police believe Bonsell’s wound was self-inflicted. The matter remains under investigation.

The department said it was joined at the scene with the Southwest Enforcement Bureau, and further assistance was given by police in Brunswick Hills, Hinckley and Strongsville, as well as the FBI and Brunswick and Brunswick Hills fire departments.
