ELYRIA — A juvenile and an older teen were arrested Wednesday after the juvenile driver allegedly led police on a chase.

The 15-year-old was arrested about 1:45 p.m. at a 13th Street home after police said he ran from the car he crashed on Gateway Boulevard and West River Road near Intertek. He is facing charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, fleeing and resisting arrest as well as numerous traffic citations.

Passenger Isaiah Makuch, 18, was arrested at the crash scene and is facing charges of contributing to the delinquency of a minor, obstructing official business and drug trafficking. Troopers allegedly found an undisclosed amount of marijuana.

Ohio Highway Patrol Trooper Joe Glascox said the car was stolen. The 5ᄑ-mile chase began near Leo Bullocks Parkway and Murray Ridge Road and reached speeds of up to 85 mph, he said.

Glascox said no one was seriously injured in the crash although Makuch had minor scrapes, and the juvenile was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure before being taken to the detention home.
