Investigators from the Bureau of Criminal Investigation arrive at a crime scene in Avon on Thursday.

AVON — One man was shot and another injured in a related car wreck this morning.

Police were called to 1355 Chester Industrial Parkway for reports of a shooting around 8:30 this morning. The address is Technifab, a manufacturer and supplier of components related to aircraft, according to its website. Around the same time, police were called to a crash at the intersection of Colorado Avenue and Carleen Avenue, along with reports of shots fired at that location too.

According to a statement from Avon police, a Technifab employee was shot at the workplace, sustaining a gunshot wound in his back. He then left after being shot, and police say he was pursued by the man who shot him, resulting in a car wreck at Colorado and Carleen. The intersection was closed for several hours this morning, but is open now.

The shooting victim was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. His condition is unknown at this time, but police said he was conscious and breathing when taken by ambulance. The shooting suspect was injured in the car wreck, and was taken to St. John Medical Center in Westlake for injuries from the crash.

Police were on the Colorado Avenue (Route 611) overpass over Interstate 90 as part of the investigation. Police and the Bureau of Criminal Investigation were at Plant 1 of Technifab.
