NORTH RIDGEVILLE — A man holding a hostage at gunpoint was charged — as was the hostage — following a standoff Tuesday night in the driveway of a North Ridgeville home.
A man called police at 6:51 p.m. Tuesday claiming his brother was being held at gunpoint in a car outside a home on Stoney Ridge Road and if the hostage taker didn’t receive $500, the hostage, identified by police as Brandon Sharp, would be killed.
Police were able to remove Sharp and Aaron J. Walton-Smith from the car without incident. Walton-Smith, 26, was charged with aggravated robbery, abduction, aggravated menacing, possessing weapons under disability, receiving stolen property and possession of marijuana. Sharp was charged with possession of drug abuse instruments. Sharp also had outstanding warrants, as did the man who called police and a woman also at the home.
According to a statement from police, there is no additional information currently available.
