Blotter: Man charged after refusing to exit car during traffic stop

2:56 a.m. Aug. 16 — Furnace Street and Bell Avenue, Rodger D. Simmons Jr., 30, of Elyria, arrested on charges of operating a vehicle while intoxicated, refusing to submit to field sobriety tests, red light violation, reasonable control and resisting arrest after a traffic stop. Police said Simmons did not want to exit the car and when he resisted he was subdued with pepper spray.

Friday, Aug. 15

  • 5:17 p.m. — 4900 block Midway Mall Blvd., Alexander Camacho, 31, Lorain, charged with theft and tampering with evidence after he allegedly tried to take four bottles of cologne from Sears.
  • 8:17 p.m.— 4500 block Midway Mall Blvd., Christopher G. Ross, 41, Elyria, charged with petty theft-shoplifting after he allegedly tried to take a pair of shoes from JC Penny.
  • 11:34 p.m. – 200 block 14th St., Todd B. Johnson, 47, Elyria, charged with domestic violence after allegedly fighting with his live-in girlfriend. It is a third-degree felony because of two previous domestic violence convictions.

Saturday, Aug. 16

  • 2:54 a.m. — Columbus and St. Clair streets, Stacy K. Gordon, 22, Elyria, arrested on a bench warrant after a traffic stop.

Friday, Aug. 15

  • 11:13 p.m. — West 11th Street and Oberlin Avenue, Candice Hamilton, 32, Lorain, charged with dog at large after her pet was found in the neighborhood.

Saturday, Aug. 16

  • 12:04 a.m. — 800 block W. 29th St., purse stolen from unlocked car parked at residence. Several credit cards and $250 in cash reported missing.
  • 2:07 a.m. — 2100 block E. 28th St., Jeremy D. Kozich, 40, Lorain, charged with public indecency and disorderly conduct intoxication after allegedly urinating outside a bar.
  • 2:27 a.m. — 1300 block Linderwood Court, Joseph W. Sullivan, 32, of Lorain, charged with domestic violence after a reported fight with his live-in girlfriend.
