Pedestrian crossing Middle Ridge hit by car

AMHERST TWP. — A man was taken to the hospital after he was hit by a car while trying to cross Middle Ridge Road on Saturday evening.

According to the Ohio Highway Patrol, the man was attempting to cross Middle Ridge near state Route 58 about 7:30 p.m. Saturday. A car heading northbound on Route 58 making a left turn onto Middle Ridge couldn’t stop in time and hit the man, knocking him unconscious, the patrol said.

The man was not crossing at an intersection, according to troopers.

He was taken to Mercy Allen Medical Center before he was flown to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland on Saturday evening.

No one has been charged in the incident and troopers are expected to have more information today.
