COLUMBIA STATION — Police said a man who was causing a disturbance on a four-wheeler Sunday morning later punched a sheriff’s deputy.
Jeffrey Shaffer, 25, was charged with assault on a police officer and resisting arrest about 10 a.m. Sunday after he punched a police officer in the chest, according to a report.
A Lorain County sheriff’s deputy responded to the 26100 block of Folley Road where Shaffer was riding a four-wheeler and damaging the front yard, according to police.
Shaffer told the deputy it was none of his business and acted aggressively, according to the report.
The deputy tried to talk to Shaffer, who got off the four-wheeler and asked, “You gonna arrest me? Or are you like all the other (expletives) you work with?” according to the report. Shaffer allegedly charged at the deputy and punched him in the chest, according to the report.
Shaffer was taken into custody and brought to Lorain County Jail where he was being held Sunday. He is schedule to appear in Elyria Municipal Court at 9 a.m. today.
