LORAIN -- A Lorain man is accused of firing a gun during a domestic dispute around midnight.
Morgan Geiger was arrested and charged with felonious assault, discharging a firearm within city limits and obstructing official business. Geiger, of the 2600 block of Reeves Avenue, was being held at the Lorain City Jail early this morning.
At 12:02 this morning, police were called to the Tower Regency Apartments at 1031 Tower Blvd. about a man being shot. No one was found shot, but Geiger and two other people were detained, according to police Sgt. Dennis Camarillo. Information on the two people and whether a gun was found was unavailable early this morning.
Police, who were searching for evidence in the apartment parking lot around 1 a.m., had a four-door Mitsubishi Galant believed to be involved in the incident towed from the lot.
A police report was unavailable early this morning, but resident Raymond Artidiello said he was in his apartment when he heard a man and a woman screaming at each other around 11:55 p.m. Wednesday. About five minutes later, Artidiello said he heard a gunshot and came out to his balcony. Artidiello said he saw a woman screaming at a man and heard her say, “Morgan, put the gun down."
He said the woman then ran into one of the apartments while the man ran from the parking lot.
Geiger, 34, is familiar to police. He has an extensive criminal record including convictions for assault, carrying a concealed weapon, domestic violence, endangering children and tampering with evidence. Geiger is due in Lorain Municipal Court today.
