LORAIN – An early morning domestic dispute ended in a gunshot and three people fleeing Thursday.

Morgan Geiger, 34, was charged with felonious assault, discharging a firearm within city limits, having weapons under disability, violation of a temporary protection order and obstructing official business around midnight on the 1100 block of Tower Boulevard.

Marcy Ritorto, 38, was charged with obstructing official business at the same time.

At 12:02 a.m., police were called to the Tower Regency Apartments at 1031 Tower Blvd. for a report of shots being fired.

Nobody with injuries was found, but resident Raymond Artidiello said he was in his apartment and heard a man and a woman screaming at each other a few minutes prior to the shots. About five minutes later, Artidiello said he heard a gunshot and heard a woman screaming, “Morgan, put the gun down.”

Officers spoke to Tiffany Walker, who told police Geiger is the father of her children. Early Thursday, Walker and her friend Javon Montgomery went to the home of Geiger’s mother on 1031 Tower Blvd. to pick up she and Geiger’s children, according to a police report.

When she went inside the home, Walker told police she heard a gunshot and said she thinks Montgomery and Geiger were fighting. She told police Geiger may have been angry after seeing her with Montgomery.

Police went into the Tower Boulevard home where they found Geiger and a woman named Marcy Ritorto along with a gun hidden in the bathroom under the sink. Ritorto told police she hadn’t seen the fight and didn’t know what was happening.

A witness contradicted her claim, telling police Ritorto was near the fight and had actually yelled at Geiger to “put the gun down,” according to the report. Officers took both Ritorto and Geiger into custody.

Montgomery came to the police station three hours after the incident and told police that he drove Walker to the Tower Boulevard home just before the shots were fired.

He said he stayed in the car while Walker went into the home and shortly after she left, a man opened the driver’s side door of the car and hit him in the head with a pistol, according to the report. Montgomery said the man pointed a gun at him, prompting the two of them to start physically fighting for the weapon. During the fight, the gun went off and both men ran from the scene, according to the report.

Geiger was being held Thursday in the Lorain City Jail.

Geiger has an extensive criminal record including convictions for assault, carrying a concealed weapon, domestic violence, endangering children and tampering with evidence.
