Wellington police identify robbery suspect

WELLINGTON — Police have identified the man suspected of robbing the LorMet Community Credit Union in Wellington on Saturday.

Wellington Police Chief Mike Barrett said an arrest warrant has been issued for James Wingard, 48, for robbery. Wingard is believed to be on the west side of Cleveland driving a black 1997 Chevy pickup truck with the Ohio license plate FUM 8995.

Wingard is 6 feet tall, weighs 180 pounds and has brown hair and eyes, Barrett said.

Police and the FBI have said the robber entered the credit union around 11:45 a.m. Saturday and demanded money from a teller, who initially refused to give him cash. After the robber said he didn’t want to hurt anyone and reached behind his back, the teller gave him money. No weapon was brandished.

The robber then fled the credit union.

Anyone with information on Wingard’s whereabouts is being asked to contact Wellington police at (440) 647-2244 or the FBI at (216) 522-1400.
