Elyria blotter: Police investigate incident at softball game

8:31 p.m. July 10 — 1000 block Foster Ave., a fight ensued after a softball game, causing a husband and wife to drive to the Elyria Police Department to fill out a statement. The man stated that he was ejected from a softball game because he questioned a call of an umpire. As he and his wife were leaving, they were confronted by two subjects who he said wanted to start a fight in the parking lot. A fight did not take place, but there was a lot of yelling. The case is still under investigation as officers gather more information about what took place that night from additional witnesses.

Thursday, July 10

  • 3:16 p.m. — 40 block Chestnut St., a woman advised officers that someone stole her wallet June 23 that contained her state ID, social security card, birth certificate and medical card. She had no idea who stole the wallet, because, “it is a friend, of a friend, of a friend” and it was “not that important and she was just going to get new cards and ID.” However, she was advised that she now needs a police report because she cannot obtain a new ID because her social security card and birth certificate were stolen.
  • 6:12 p.m. — 1000 block Chestnut Commons, Wal-Mart, Christina Green, 24, 5000 block Ravenway Drive, North Ridgeville, charged with theft after the lost prevention officer observed her putting items into her purse. There were 13 concealed DVDs and clothing items valued at approximately $178.52.
  • 7:28 p.m. — 1000 block Fowl Road, slashed tire.
  • 9:28 p.m. — 300 block Market Drive, Giant Eagle, Isidro Z. Casarez Jr., 53, 1000 block Garden St., Elyria, was arrested for theft and resisting arrest after stealing a watermelon valued at $5.99 from the store. While in the holding cell, he began to scream obscenities toward the arresting officer, he also “mule” kicked the interior holding cell door and smashed his face into the window.

Friday, July 11

  • 12:09 a.m. — 100 block Bohannon Court, a woman advised that she and her daughter were “jumped” outside of the residence and the suspects were still in the area. Officers responded and learned there was “female drama” and at one point, one of the suspects grabbed the girl by the hair and “threw her to the ground.” It was at that time, when approximately five other subjects attacked the mother and daughter. Officers could not locate the suspects due to lack of information and advised the mother and daughter to remain indoors for the rest of the night. However, as the officers were leaving the scene, they observed the family exit the residence and began to converse with other residents “milling about the cul-de-sac.”
  • 1:39 a.m. — 1000 block West Ave., window broken out by an unknown suspect, with an unknown object.
