Pair face charges in meth bust

ELYRIA — Two people accused of cooking methamphetamines on High Street have been indicted.

Steven Thacker and Faliesha Light each are charged with two counts of the illegal manufacture of drugs.

The pair was arrested in May following a raid by the Lorain County Drug Task Force and Elyria Police, who found the components for cooking meth, an addictive stimulant, at the house. Also found were 10 bottles that were used to cook meth in what’s known as the “one pot” or “shake and bake” method.

Thacker and Light weren’t home at the time of the raid but were arrested a short time later in downtown Elyria. Police did find a bedridden elderly woman in the residence, and Drug Task Force Commander Dennis Cavanaugh described the conditions the woman was living in as “deplorable.”

The raid was the result of an investigation into the purchase of pseudoephedrine, which is found in cold medication.
