More charges filed in LaGrange shooting

LAGRANGE — A woman who allegedly shot a man in the chest at their home early Wednesday may have moved items around the home before police arrived, according to authorities.

Tanya Estepp, 42, was charged with felonious assault and tampering with evidence around 1 a.m. Wednesday at her house at 225 W. Main St.

Officers arrived to find Dennis Golden injured from a gunshot wound to the chest inside the home he shares with Estepp.

LaGrange Police Chief Chad Duensing said Estepp and Golden had gotten into an argument earlier in the night at a local establishment. They continued fighting when they got home and a gun was fired, hitting Golden in the chest, Duensing said.

After the shooting, police received an anonymous call from a woman at the house who told them Golden had been shot and that there was “so much blood,” according to a recording of the call. The woman then told officers that she tried to find out where the shooter was before they heard her put the phone down and walk away.

Police arrived, took Estepp into custody and sent Golden to MetroHealth Medical Center. When they inspected the scene, they determined things had been moved around before police arrived, Duensing said.

Estepp was taken to Lorain County Jail, where she was being held on a $75,000 bond Thursday until her court date at 2 p.m. Monday in Elyria Municipal Court.

Police said additional charges may be filed against Estepp as the investigation continues.
