Westlake police release 911 call that led to hunt for gunman

On Tuesday, Westlake police released the 911 call that ultimately led to a multiple-agency hunt for an alleged gunman with no results.

An employee at Home Savings & Loan, 30700 Center Ridge Road in Westlake, called police at 12:05 p.m. Saturday to report a bullet had just been shot into the building.

Police responded, and another gunshot was fired in the direction of officers on the scene, according to a press release.

No injuries were reported, but the shots prompted a response from multiple police departments including North Olmsted, Westlake, Bay Village, FairviewPark, Lakewood, Rocky River, North Ridgeville, Cleveland Metroparks rangers and the Westshore Enforcement SWAT Bureau.

Police closed several roads and advised residents to stay inside their homes for most of Saturday afternoon. The all-clear was given at about 6 p.m.

Police have not found the suspect. Anyone with information on the incident should call Westlake police at (440) 871-3311.
