LORAIN – After three weeks of investigating, Lorain police arrested a man they say has been trafficking drugs in Lorain on Thursday.
Sperling Prescott, 23, was charged with possession of criminal tools, possession of heroin, trafficking heroin, possession of drug paraphernalia, receiving stolen property and having weapons under disability on Thursday morning at his house at 804 Euclid Ave.
The arrest came after a three-week investigation based on a tip the police department received that Prescott was selling drugs on the east side of Lorain, according to Lorain Police Sgt. Tom Nimon. Around 11 a.m. Thursday, police pulled Prescott over as he was driving near the intersection of Washington Avenue and West 8th Street, Nimon said.
They brought the 23-year-old back to his home while they searched it. Police said they found several hundred dollars worth of heroin, drug paraphernalia and tools and two guns, one of which had been stolen from a burglary in Lorain.
Prescott was taken to Lorain City Jail, where he was being held without bond on Friday.
