Elyria blotter: Resident says window broken, coins stolen

Wednesday, March 19

  • 12:01 a.m. — 400 block Ashland Court, a man said someone tried to file a tax return using his Social Security number.
  • 2:30 a.m. — 1400 block Lowell St., a deejay at a bar told police a woman came into the bar and started threatening and punching him
  • 7:00 a.m. — 1100 block West Ave., a man said that someone broke the window of his house and stole some coins from his dresser.
  • 4:22 p.m. — 1000 Chestnut Commons Drive, Colin Hardman, 41, was charged with theft after a Wal-Mart employee saw him trying to leave the store with DVDs he hadn’t paid for.
  • 6:49 p.m. — 200 block Yale Ave., a woman said her ex-husband has been sending her nude photos and that her mail has been tampered with and she’s found checks missing from her purse.
  • 11 p.m. — 100 block Brunswick Drive, a man said his ex-girlfriend got into his car with her son and started hitting the man.
  • 11:15 p.m. — 500 Turner St., a woman said she left her car unlocked while she picked up her children from the baby-sitter and when she returned, her purse inside was dumped out and her wallet was stolen.

  • Midnight — 1200 block Missouri Ave., a woman said someone stole a gold necklace from her unlocked car.
  • 4 a.m. — 600 block Blossom Drive, a man told police someone forced entry into an abandoned house next door to his own.
  • 10:31 p.m. — 2300 block Reeves Ave., a woman said a man she knows kicked her car and broke a side mirror.
