Elyria, Lorain blotter: Teen charged with underage consumption at vacant house

Friday, Feb. 7

  • 3 p.m. — 18 West Ave., the owner of a contracting company filed a report at the Elyria Police Department about the theft of $2,400 in power tools from his work trailer in October. The man said he was working in the Sommers Mobile Home Park at the time.
  • 5:41 p.m. — 320 Washington Ave., an employee of the Elyria Public Library told police she placed her $400 smartphone on a book cart in the Children’s Department and, when she returned a few moments later, it was gone. Police said there were no suspects in the apparent theft.

Saturday, Feb. 8

  • 12:37 a.m. — 300 block Parmely Ave., Jaden Pregun,19, Elyria, arrested and charged with criminal trespass and underage consumption after receiving reports of an intoxicated male entering a vacant house. Police found a man later identified as Pregun sleeping in a back bedroom of a home. The suspect, who appeared to be intoxicated, told police he threw a wild party at the address earlier in the evening during which he drank a case of beer. Pregun was set to appear today in Elyria Municipal Court.

Friday Feb. 7

  • 3:49 p.m. — A man in the 2800 block of W. Erie Ave. told police Friday afternoon that he was assaulted by another man who first called him names and then threw an ice ball at him when the man opened the door of his mobile home. The 55-year-old said he confronted a 62-year-old neighbor moments before police arrived and were told by the older man that he threw loose snow at his younger neighbor after that man swung a shovel at him. No charges were filed against either man, police said.
