An Oregon man is facing felony drug charges after a traffic stop in Lorain County on Wednesday.
Jon Dangelo, 44, of Eugene, Ore., was stopped by State Highway Patrol troopers for a failure to signal violation at 4:34 p.m. near milepost 135 on the Ohio Turnpike, according to a news release from the Patrol.
Troopers observed criminal indicators, and a drug-sniffing canine alerted on the 1996 Mercedes. A search revealed 32 pounds of marijuana, worth about $144,000, in the vehicle’s trunk, according to the release.
Dangelo was charged with aggravated drug trafficking and possession of marijuana, both third-degree felonies. If convicted he could face up to 10 years in prison and up to a $20,000 fine.
He is being held at the Lorain County Jail.
