Accused kidnapper sent to Sandusky to await trial

LORAIN — Almost two months after Brian Jury was arrested in Lorain for allegedly kidnapping then raping a woman at his camper in Bellevue, he was sent from Lorain to Sandusky to await his trial.

Jury, 38, of 10701 Strecker Road in Bellvue, has been held at Lorain County Jail on concealed weapons charges since shortly after his arrest in Lorain in November.

The weapons charges were dismissed and on Dec. 23, Jury was transferred to Erie County Jail on the related kidnapping, rape, felonious assault and attempted murder charges he’s facing in Erie County, according to Erie County Sheriff Paul Sigsworth.

Jury was charged Nov. 1 after Christine Green said he abducted her from the street in Lorain and drove her to his camper in Bellevue the morning of Nov. 1. Green said he raped her repeatedly, tied her arms and feet together and told her he would kill her before leaving her in his camper and driving away. Green was able to push through the door of the camper and roll herself to the street where she was found by a passing motorist and off-duty police officer.

Police found Jury the same afternoon, riding a motorcycle through Lorain with a revolver and a pistol in his pockets. Jury was charged with carrying concealed weapons and obstructing official business in Lorain.

According to Lorain County Prosecutor Dennis Will, Jury’s weapons and obstruction charges were never brought to a grand jury. Instead, Will consulted with Erie County sheriff, prosecutors and Lorain police and decided to move Jury to Erie County Jail to await his pre-trial hearing on rape, kidnapping, attempted murder and felonious assault charges.

Jury is being held at jail on a $350,000 bond.
