UPDATE: Armed robbery suspect sought


SHEFFIELD VILLAGE -- Police are searching for the suspect in an armed robbery of PNC Bank.

At about 11 a.m., a male entered the bank, 5320 N. Abbe Road, armed with a gun, according to Sheffield Village police Chief Larry Bliss. There were no customers inside the bank, Bliss said.

The suspect escaped with an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries were reported.

The suspect, described as 5-feet, 8-inches tall and weighing between 150 and 160 pounds, was wearing all black, including a black mask and gloves. He ran south on North Abbe Road, Bliss said.

Lorain County Community College issued a security alert shortly after noon advising students and faculty to be cautious.

The FBI and Sheffield Village police are looking for the suspect.

PNC has offered a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the identification, arrest, prosecution and conviction of the suspect.
