LORAIN — A Lorain man is facing an attempted murder charge for a brutal assault in August, which left his friend hospitalized with injuries and some memory loss.
Mario Ayala Jr., 27, of 2680 Packard Drive in Lorain, was indicted on one count of attempted murder, two counts of felonious assault, one count of burglary and one count of tampering with evidence this week after an Aug. 15 attack that sent Roger Stone, 44, to the hospital.
On Aug. 17, Stone told police that he was drinking outside two days earlier in his front yard. The morning after drinking, Stone woke up with injuries to his face and legs, and on Aug. 17, was sent to the hospital. Ayala was drinking with him that night, according to the police report. Stone told police that he could remember walking upstairs in his house but couldn’t remember anything after that, including the assault.
Ayala was initially charged Aug. 30 with aggravated robbery and felonious assault after the incident.
On Thursday, Ayala pleaded not guilty to all charges.
