Man allegedly threw girlfriend from moving car

WELLINGTON — The Ohio Highway Patrol is investigating an incident in which a Wellington man allegedly pushed his girlfriend out of a moving car.

Troopers called Wellington police at 9:45 p.m. Oct. 31 to report that a suspect driving a green Camaro pushed his girlfriend out of the car at U.S. Route 20 and Baumhart Road while traveling approximately 50 mph.

The suspect, who lives on South Walden Lane, was not located, according to a police report. His vehicle was found near his residence, but residents of the apartment complex reported that the man left in another vehicle.

Officers spoke with the man’s girlfriend the next day, and she told police she had been dating the suspect for eight years. She said the two were arguing in the vehicle when he pushed her.

The woman was taken to Mercy Allen Hospital by troopers, and police were contacted to accompany the woman to get her things from the apartment she shared with the suspect.

The woman gathered clothing and two muzzle-loading guns, which were purchased in her name.

Wellington Police Chief Steve Rollins said troopers were handling the investigation.

According to the police report, the suspect has active warrants through Medina County and has been known to carry weapons and resist arrest. Law enforcement officials said an arrest has not been made.
