Accused rapist makes court apperance

LORAIN — A Bellevue man accused of weapons charges in Lorain County and rape and abduction in Erie County waived his preliminary hearing on the local charges.

Brian Jury, 38, appeared Tuesday in Lorain Municipal Court on charges of two counts of carrying concealed weapons and one count of obstruction of official business, but did not say anything.

Lorain Municipal Court Judge Thomas Elwell set a $50,000 bond for the local charges, which will be forwarded to a county grand jury for consideration. He remains in the Lorain County Jail.

Jury is accused of abducting Christine Green, a Lorain acquaintance, on Nov. 1 and taking her to a trailer on Strecker Road in Bellevue, where she says he raped and tortured her.

After Jury had left her alone, she broke free while restrained and rolled to a nearby road, where she was found by a passing stranger, she told police.

The Chronicle traditionally does not identify victims in which rape is alleged, but Green provided a firsthand account of the incident and permitted her name to be published to spread awareness.
