Breaking: Arrest made in connection with heroin overdoses

ELYRIA – Police arrested a man they say was selling an especially potent form of heroin called “China White,” which police say could be responsible for six overdoses and one death in Elyria this weekend.

Siarres Noble, 29, from Elyria was charged with three counts of trafficking in drugs on the 200 block of Brunswick Drive in Elyria at about 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. He is being held at the county jail.

Police said they received information that Noble – who also goes by the name “Sizzle” – has been selling “China White” around Elyria.

The wave of overdoses – there were 13 reported throughout Lorain County over the weekend, and two deaths, including a 32-year-old woman in Elyria – prompted Elyria police, Lorain police and the county Drug Task Force to coordinate to try and find the source.

China White is a kind of heroin laced with Fentanyl, a pain drug similar to morphine, according to police.  It is four to five times more potent than heroin and often causes the user to lose consciousness immediately after snorting it, according to police.

The drug has been sent for testing to confirm that it is “China White,” Elyria Police Capt. Chris Costantino said.

As police investigated the incidents, Noble’s name kept coming up, Costantino said, adding that undercover police purchased the drug from Noble a few times over the weekend.

This weekend was the first time Elyria Police have seen “China White” in Elyria, although it is prevalent in larger cities, Costantino said.

“We’re trying to educate people and let them know it’s out there,” Costantino said.
