Police: Woman drove to station drunk to file complaint

ELYRIA — A woman was arrested after she drove intoxicated to the Elyria Police Department to file a complaint, police said.

Sherri Briant, 34, was charged with disorderly conduct intoxicated following her trip to the police station at 2:30 this morning.

Briant arrived at the station to ask for a police officer’s assistance in gathering some personal items from her home, but police said the woman smelled of alcohol and appeared to be intoxicated. Police asked Briant how she got to the station, and Briant said she drove, according to a police report.

An officer told Briant to have a friend or family member pick her up, at which time police said she became belligerent.

Briant was arrested at the station and taken to Lorain County Jail.
