Cavs Notes

Antawn Jamison all smiles as he's introduced at the Q

CLEVELAND — Antawn Jamison couldn't stop grinning Thursday at Quicken Loans Arena during his introductory press conference with the Cavaliers.

“I've been smiling from ear to ear since I heard the news,” said the 33-year-old power forward, who was acquired from Washington on Wednesday night as part of the trade that sent Zydrunas Ilgauskas to the Wizards.

“Not too many people get an opportunity like this. You definitely want to take advantage of it.”

In an instant, Jamison, who has not won a championship at any level of basketball, went from the lowly Wizards to a Cleveland team that was an NBA-best 43-11 and had won 13 straight games prior to Thursday's contest against the Denver Nuggets.

“There's only one thing left for me to achieve,” he said. “It's the one thing that keeps me going. It's the one thing that keeps me competing night after night.

"I just love what I do,” he added. “I want to be the best and hold that championship trophy up and be part of something special.”

The 6-foot-9, 235-pound Jamison is no stranger to the Cavaliers, having competed against them ———— and lost in the first round of the playoffs — from 2006-08 while with the Wizards.

“As a player, this is one of the arenas, cities, I hated the most,” he said with a smile. “They made it tough.

“I love the fans here now,” he added. “It should be something special.”
