Story incorrectly attributed statements to county coroner
A story Saturday about the death of Virginia Shaw contained several statements attributed to Lorain County Coroner Paul Matus that he did not make.
Shaw, 84, was pronounced dead last week after her husband, 85-year-old Robert Shaw, called Avon police and said he’d just killed her to put her out of her misery. […]

North Ridgeville High School senior Keene Cockburn will attend West Liberty State College in West Virginia next season to play basketball. Due to a reporter’s error, the wrong college was listed in a story in Thursday’s sports section.

The Republic steel mill will temporarily shut down its blast furnace in December. Other portions of the plant will remain in operation. A headline on Saturday’s Local & State page was incorrect.

The name of the principal of Marion L. Steele High School in Amherst was incorrect in a story Friday. The principal is Michael Gillam.

Helen Hurst is a member of the Lorain County Board of Elections. She was misidentified as chairwoman of the board in a story Thursday.
