NEWS OF THE DAY: The defense dominated Day 2.
Cornerbacks Joe Haden, Buster Skrine and Trevin Wade had interceptions, safety Johnson Bademosi dropped a pair, safety Josh Aubrey dropped one and there were several other breakups.
“We were doing our thing out there today, man, I’m excited for my boys,” Haden said.
All three quarterbacks were the victims of the picks, and the receivers didn’t give them much help by running poor routes.
CAMPER OF THE DAY: Haden. He had an interception return for a touchdown, multiple breakups and looks poised for a big season.
PLAY OF THE DAY: The offense managed some good plays, just not nearly as many as the defense. One of the bright moments came when receiver Josh Cooper made a good catch on a comeback despite rookie cornerback Leon McFadden getting a hand on the ball. No. 3 quarterback Brian Hoyer made the throw.
QUOTE OF THE DAY: “We depend on each other and I know it sounds cliché, but that’s just how it is. We live and die with each other, so one guy doesn’t do it, we all got to go through it with each other.” – Outside linebacker Paul Kruger, on the entire defense doing pushups after a couple of interceptions were dropped in a drill.
TWEET-LESS IN CLEVELAND: Despite Steelers coach Mike Tomlin’s arrival on Twitter, Browns coach Rob Chudzinski won’t be joining the social-media phenomenon.
“I’m not a real technology guy,” he said. “I wouldn’t even know how to get started on that. I have a hard enough time with my cell phone.”
Tomlin’s first tweet @CoachTomlin: “Hello Twitter. Expect no BS from me. Just straight fire!”
