Browns CBs Joe Haden, Buster Skrine active for today's game vs. Steelers

CLEVELAND – Browns cornerbacks Joe Haden (oblique) and Buster Skrine (concussion) are active as expected for today’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers at Cleveland Browns Stadium.

Haden missed last week’s game in Dallas after straining the muscle in practice. He said Friday he’s 90 percent and “ready to go.” The Browns are 0-5 this year without Haden.

Skrine sustained a concussion late last Sunday but returned to practice Thursday and is expected to play in the slot as the nickelback.

The Steelers are missing several big names, starting with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who has an injured right shoulder and ribs. He’s 14-1 against the Browns.

The Steelers will start third-stringer Charlie Batch, who hasn’t taken a snap this season, because Byron Leftwich injured ribs last week in a loss to Baltimore. Batch is 37 years old and 5-2 as a starter in nine years with the Steelers.

Pittsburgh (6-4) is also without receivers Antonio Brown and Jerricho Cotchery, safety Troy Polamalu  and tackle Marcus Gilbert. Emmanuel Sanders will start for Brown, Will Allen for Polamalu and Mike Adams at right tackle for Gilbert.

The only moderate surprise among the Browns’ inactives was rookie receiver Josh Cooper. The coaches chose to activate veteran Mohamed Massaquoi instead and will play him in the slot.

The other Cleveland inactives are: nickelback Dimitri Patterson (ankle), safety/special teamer Ray “Bubba” Ventrone, running back Brandon Jackson, fullback Owen Marecic, defensive lineman Ronnie Cameron and offensive lineman Jarrod Shaw.

The Browns have lost four straight to the Steelers and 16 of 17.
