Browns trade RB Jerome Harrison to Eagles for RB Mike Bell

BEREA - The Browns traded running back Jerome Harrison to the Eagles for running back Mike Bell on Wednesday afternoon.

The Eagles announced the deal, but the Browns have yet to confirm it.

Harrison's fall from grace was abrupt.

He rushed for 561 yards in the final three games of 2009 - including a franchise-record 286 vs. the Chiefs -- but quickly saw his role reduced at the start of this season. He didn't start the opener and carried 31 times for 91 yards in four games for a 2.9-yard average.

He was upset about the lack of carries and had been sulking. He was also bothered by a sore thigh.

With the emergence of Peyton Hillis, Harrison was deemed expendable. He was a fifth-round pick in 2006.

The move should mean more carries for second-year back James Davis.

Bell (6-foot, 225 pounds) is 27 years old. He had 16 carries for 28 yards with the Eagles. The Browns will be his fourth team.

He had a career-best 677 yards and eight touchdowns as a rookie with Denver in 2006. He rushed for 654 yards and five touchdowns last year for the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints.
