Local students are honored for traits such as trustworthiness, honesty, leadership and caring. 9-12 students are recognized by having their stories published in the paper throughout the school year. PIGSKIN GEOGRAPHY
September 7 through December 16.
A 17-week program, Pigskin Geography uses the newspaper to teach math, language arts, geography, research and mapping skills by following the Cleveland Browns. Weekly worksheets on qualifying teams grow students' knowledge of physical land-marks (states, river), geographic concepts (time zones, latitude/longitude) and map legends (mileage, capitals).
