Grafton

    The Immaculate Conception

The Immaculate Conception (Erie St., Grafton) was the first Catholic Church established in the area between Cleveland and Sandusky. The construction of the church began in 1865 by families who lived in Grafton and were members of St. John of the Cross Church. The chapel of St. John was actually moved, and, using stones from local quarries, the new church was built around it. The building was completed and dedicated in 1871 at the cost of $10,000 dollars.
