ELYRIA — Construction is on track for the new 30,000-square-foot addition to Ridge Tool Co.’s manufacturing facility at 400 Clark St.
Becky Brotherton, marketing and communications manager for Emerson Electric, parent company of Ridge Tool, said the addition was made to help with the flow in the facility. The addition will create a new shipping area, an employee entrance and a second story for office space for foremen and managers. The addition will allow more parking on the east side of the building.
“This is a huge improvement for us, allowing our products to reach our customers more efficiently and quicker,” she said.
Brotherton said Ridge Tool understands it is a staple in Elyria’s business community, and projects like this will pique the public’s interest.
In Elyria, Ridge Tool makes pipe wrenches, treading machines and accessories and components used in the professional tool market. The complex consists of manufacturing and administrative offices.
The company was founded in 1923 in North Ridgeville and moved to Elyria in 1943. The company produces RIDGID-brand tools at its headquarters on Clark Street.
The addition is expected to be completed by the end of summer of this year.
