PITTSFIELD TWP. — A two-story brick house on Quarry Road was heavily damaged Thursday night in a fire.
No one was injured, but several of the homeowner’s pets remained unaccounted for as of 11:30 p.m., Wellington Community Fire District Chief Mike Wetherbee said at the scene.
Multiple fire companies, the Central Lorain County Joint Ambulance District and the Lorain County Sheriff’s Office also responded to the scene at 15760 Quarry Road, south of U.S. 20.
Wetherbee said the fire was particularly hot and dangerous because brick houses tend to trap heat. The roof of the house was sagging due to the fire reaching into the eaves, he said.
