VERMILION -- A week after it went missing and its driver survived a plunge into the fast-moving waters, a gray 2012 Ford Fusion was pulled Thursday from the Vermilion River.

Vermilion police, on their Facebook page, thanked the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, the Lorain County Dive Team, Vermilion Fire Department and Valley Harbor Marina for their assistance in finding and recovering the car.

Its driver, a 29-year-old Vermilion man, reported Nov. 1 to police that he had been drinking earlier in the night at a bowling alley, but wasn't aware how he got into the Vermilion River or whether he had been trying to drive home or simply walked.

He was cited for minor misdemeanor disorderly conduct by intoxication. Read more in Saturday's Chronicle-Telegram.
